First, you must start.

I grew up in Far North Queensland, which is just about the polar opposite of where I live now. When I was young my dad brought an international moth off the side of the road for $120.00, we stood the mast and went around and around in circles for some till a helpful onlooker gave us a few pointers. From that day on I have loved to sail, race and in general be near the water. Life does not always turn out the way you imagined it and living in one of the most landlocked places in the world for the last 20years did not do wonders for my sailing dreams. Now with my children nearing the end of high school my dream to cross oceans seems a little closer but first I need a boat.

Why Globe 5.8? I wanted a boat I can sail on the lake where we currently have our 1976 Catalina 27 and something I could trailer to the coast, 1600KM away, very seaworthy, able to be single-handed as my wife is not as fond of the ocean as I am. I want to build something with my daughters.
I want to race, I want to cross oceans.
